MitigationPlan.com is a Web service designed to help emergency managers in government and business develop and coordinate all-hazards emergency response plans.  The product is compliant with FEMA's Stafford Act requirements for local county and state emergency managers.

MitigationPlan.com is password accessible on the Web and guides an emergency planner through a sequence of questions required to produce a mitigation plan that can be accessed and updated as needed.  One of the key features of MitigationPlan.com is the ability to collate information, that is, each local mitigation plan can be rolled-up into a unified, standardized and complete state, regional and/or national hazard mitigation plan.

Disasters and emergencies cause injuries and death, leave people displaced from their homes, and cause damage to communities, businesses, and public infrastructure. Hazard mitigation is essential to reduce or eliminate the consequences of natural and man-made disasters. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) supports communities with demonstrable hazard mitigation plans by providing the maximum disaster relief and emergency assistance when disasters strike.

Visual Risk Technologies has developed the MitigationPlan.com System to assist emergency management agencies in satisfying the FEMA requirements by creating a standardized, detailed plan that community and state officials may use to:

DEVELOPED FOR EMERGENCY MANAGERS...
WITH INPUT FROM EMERGENCY MANAGERS...

The Associates of Visual Risk Technologies wish to express appreciation to our Friends from the Arizona Division of Emergency Management for their advice in developing this mitigation planning tool.

• identify and understand the severity of potential hazards
• allocate resources for mitigation projects, and
• ensure that their hazard mitigation planning reduces and, to the maximum extent possible, eliminates the consequences of natural and man-made disasters.

The system consists of a user-friendly, password-protected website that allows users to enter detailed information about their community, potential and known hazards that affect their areas, and mitigation projects under consideration. The final plan and associated data are downloaded into MS Word and MS Excel and locations corresponding to information in the plan can be displayed on detailed maps within VRiskMap.

One of the key features of the MitigationPlan.com is the ability to collate information. That is, all local community mitigation plans are integrated into the appropriate county mitigation plan, which in turn can be rolled-up into a unified, standardized and complete State Hazard Mitigation Plan. The Plan produced from MitigationPlan.com allows state officials and emergency managers to:

• evaluate and compare unrelated hazards in different areas
• assign ranking priorities, and
• allocate financial resources for specific mitigation projects.

Local data can be securely and simultaneously rolled up into a collated State Mitigation Plan. Once the plan is complete, is may be shared with other area managers, and saved for future updates.
